Taylor Court is the redevelopment of a former sheltered bedsit scheme providing 33 flats and townhouses on a tricky site. The large number of existing trees with preservation orders and the sloping nature of the site provided significant constraints on the scheme.
The spacious units all make the most of the setting with large terraces or gardens. While green roofs and 20% of the anticipated renewable energy will be produced on site, helping the development exceed level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
A nearby Conservation Area prompted a restrained palette of materials that echoes the red brick Victorian and Edwardian villas opposite. Using these we created a contemporary response to the Conservation Area that responds to the steep slope on the site.
