This pioneering scheme has been designed to meet Code for Sustainable Homes levels 4 and 5 as well as PassivHaus principles. On the vacant site of a former bowling green, the development will have its energy use monitored, by Portsmouth City Council, throughout its early life. This will then inform the requirements for future developments within the City.

In 2014 Inside Housing named the site one of their Top 50 Housing Developments of the Year, and described the scheme as one of the ‘most inspiring, innovative and exciting affordable housing developments in the UK.

The accommodation comprises 6 family houses, 8 spacious flats and a fully wheelchair accessible 4 bedroom house. These homes are arranged around a central mews with buildings orientated to optimize solar gain and renewables potential. Extensive landscaping, private and shared external space further enhance this sustainable urban design approach.
