Chichester Library Extension

Location:
Chichester, West Sussex
Client:
West Sussex County Council
Completed:
2009

Our extension to Chichester’s iconic 1960’s library was designed to improve accessibility and escape routes. The existing library was partially remodeled to accept the new stair and lift.

The form and positioning of the extension maximise site use and reflect the geometric rigour of the existing building.

Two imperforate brick walls wrap the perimeter of the new building. Lighter weight zinc and glass stepped ends allow enticing routes and views through the site.
